It works with the dac
I used this to connect the digital signal of the smart tv to the DAC to convert the signal to analog so I can use the external sound system which consists of a mixer, equalizer, power amp, and a pair of full-range speaker. Sounds great.

Because this is being sold as Audiovox the maker, instead of Acoustic Research the product, the price is 4 or 5 times cheaper.
