Springfield Armory G.I. 1911 Walnut Grip Left

From Halo Evans' review, I knew the grips might not match but I really liked the 'U.S.'on them so I ordered a pair for my Rock Island no nonsense, inexpensive (but solid and accurate) 1911 in .38 Super. The two grips didn't match in color but it immediately struck me that the one that was a little lighter color (and a little less in quality) had a strong jungle, bamboo, Pacific theater style to it. The other one, shown in Amazon, was very nice and darker with a hardwood European theater look to it. Try as I might, I could not see both grips at the same time. They fit perfect and feel great. I'm a quirky guy (hence .38 Super rather than .45 ACP) and I'm keeping them.

I TRIED THESE R/L HAND US WOOD GRIPS ON 3 DIFFERENT M1911A1 PISTOLS AND THEY JUST DONT FIT. I WONT SEND THEMBACK BUT WILL TAKE THEM TO THE COLLECTORS SHOWS I GO TO AND TRY AND SELL THEM TO REGAIN MY COST AND SHIPPING COST. I KNOW THAT THIS GRIP WITH THE US EMMBOSSED ON IT WAS NOT A US ISSUE AT ANY TIME BUT I LIKED THEM AND THEU DO LOOK GOOD BUT USELESS ON THE REAL .45 CAL US M1911A1'S I OWN.

They look great on my Auto Ord 1911 and SR1911. I currently have them on my SR1911. Left side is darker than the left but on the stainless 1911 its not noticeable by much. I originally got them to replace my expensive custom grips so I wouldn't destroy those. The texture is gripy and they look nice. They appear to be walnut. Do not expect grips to match each other.

I am writing this review for two reasons. I ordered both the left and right grips to make My GI Rock Island Arms M1911 pistol look more like the real thing. These were at a good price and they turned out to be very good quality. Like the real thing they don't match exactly, although close. The other reason was the great service from Gearstuff. They sent me two left side grips originally. I reported the issue to the Gearstuff through Amazon and they sent me a right grip within two days. Good quality, great service.

There is no issues with the grips. However, I hate to see when businesses make unfair profit. This people sell them separate so they make more money. You can now buy the pair from Ebay or manufacturers like Auto Ordnance. I regret paying as much as I did for them.

If you think you buying a pair of grps, your not. Your buying one side. I found that out the hard way and frankly the one I got simply wasnt that nice. It was OK but nothing to write home about and certianly not worth the price for two.

I got the left (why not just sell a full set?) to match the right. But be aware the two sides will likely vary on richness of the color.It's not a big deal and once I put them on they really look freat.
