Jim Butcher - Dresden Files: Books 1-4: Storm Front, Fool Moon, Grave Peril, Summer Knight (The Dresden Files)

While researching this purchase, I read a ton of reviews that stated that this series started off slow, but got better after the first few books. A couple friends had recommended the Dresden files to me, so I figured I needed to give it a try because it sounded interesting. So I bought this set to get a good start on the series. I encountered the same pitfalls that everyone else had described about the over description of what the female characters look like and every single detail about what they were wearing, how they smelled, how their hair was brushed, which toothpaste they used, etc. I went back and re-read the reviews and a lot of them said it got better after the second book. Half an hour into the third book, however, I found myself pounding on the steering wheel hoping that the airbag would take me out of my misery. I think I may need to skip ahead 10 books and try again from there. in the meantime, I think I’ll just listen to Black Sabbath’s entire catalog to cleanse my palate during my commute.

I just love listening to books on tape/CD in the car. The stories here are different then from what I'm used to listening to, but they are really interesting. The speaker on the CD's really makes a difference. He is fantastic. This an unabridged CD, but the way he tells it you would think other wise. He will keep you really engrossed in the story and crave more. Enjoy.

With mp3 format, you get a book on one disc. Glad they issued these on audio, and Marsters is doing the reading.

A good series to start off with. Downloaded them to my map3 player. Listen to them on the bus.

Loved the Dresden Files TV show & was disappointed when it was cancelled. I was delighted to find MP3 of the books. I'm a big audio book gal while driving, keeps my road rage at bay. MP3 makes for safer driving too, no multiple CDs to change while driving, whole book on one CD! These Dresden Files books don't disappoint & reader puts emotion into his reading style. Highly recommend.

Great author, and great stories. The author writes each book as if they can stand on their own, but for the readers that started with the first entry and followed in sequence, hearing about the cat, the VW Beetle, and Bob over and over is getting a bit old.

I really hope they start selling more groups of books together in affordable MP3 disc bundles. I already own them all in paperback, but I'd also like the audio versions.As for the Dresden Files books 1-4, they are fast, fun, and pulpy reads that slowly start to build into a very engaging world with memorable characters. These are probably the best read audio book series I've ever heard to boot.

Great to listen to when driving.

Seit Jahren bin ich Harry-Fan und dies ist tatsächlich mein erstes Hörbuch. Konnte es ehrlich gesagt nicht abwarten und wurde nicht enttäuscht. James Masters macht es wirklich herausragend. Bringt, zumindest für ich, Bücher die ich in-und-auswendig kenne auf eine weitere Art zum Leben. Als Harry-Fan schon fast ein MUSS!
