Thriling new album from one of our best bands.
Captivating from its first note till its last. The most criminally underrated and enigmatic band of the last 20 years return (rather quickly) with another gorgeous, lush, unpredictable, fascinating batch of smoother, experimental synth pop. Not as dark or aggressive as Glass-handed kites or No More Stories but explores a smoother, more playful side of the band that started with the astonishing +-. Twist Quest and Candy Pieces are absolute classics. Kind of astonishing at this point to still see US/UK critics (again) completely missing it with this band. I'm convinced they'll be discovered by someone long after they're gone and a retrospective lauding how inventive and ahead of their time this band was will endear a new generation of fans who'll wonder how we missed it so horribly when they were actually around. Can't wait to spend the rest of the year discovering new things buried deep within as Mew records grow with every listen.

Mew Good
Perhaps not as exceptional as Plus Minus or Stories but still well worth listening to. It is a rare band that holds together so well for so long. Mew has an original style which may not be as accessible as other groups but rewards re-hearing.

Better than previous, lighter in tone than earliest
Much better than +- and you hardly notice the absence of a founding member. This is a the cleverest collection of art-pop I've heard this year, with many layers to the sound that yield rewards upon relistening.

Good but not great
Not the best Mew album but it does get better with each listen. Will be fun to hear these songs live -- can't wait for the tour.

I love it.
A friend of mine is flying in to Chicago to attend this band's concert, so I wanted to have the music in house when he got here. I listened to the album and discovered electronica music. I love it.

Superb.
The usual few spins is required. First play is yes, another Mew sounding album, sort of like +/- but a bit more poppy perhaps after losing their guitar player, Bo Madsen, a couple of years ago.Then, it just kicks in - superb, hook-laden anthemic songs just brimming with talent, prog-pop overtones, off-beat eclectic lyrics and lush riffs, drums, bass lines and some great guitar work. Superb.I've seen them twice live, 2006 and 2015, and they're even better. This band should be absolutely massive. Buy it, play it and love it.

Mew? Who Knew?
Stumbled across this band from Denmark, thanks to an email circular about their forthcoming show at London's Festival Hall. Pitching somewhere between pop and art rock, with a cynical spikiness that recalls XTC or 10cc, Visuals is their seventh studio release, and veers more towards the pop side, with some warm, pastoral melodies sung angelically by Jonas Bjerre. It saves the best for last - Carry Me To Safety could have been an 80s chart topper.

Another excellent album from the band. More mellow and "pop" than the last few albums I think.
Absolutely love Mew. This is my fifth album from them. Each one is a bit different, and this is more mellow than the last 3. Took me a few listens to get into and now I absolutely love it.

Mew sind für mich die Entdeckung und Visuals das persönliche Album des Jahres 2017.Bei jedem neuen Durchhören entdecke ich etwas Neues und das obwohl das Album scheinbar leicht daher kommt.Mew schaffen den Spagat zwischen ohrwurmtauglichen Melodien und komplexer, anspruchsvoller Musik meisterlich.Für mich hat es etwas von den Mew Alben Frengers und + -, ohne seine Eigenständigkeit zu verlieren.Schade, dass diese Band nicht noch mehr Aufmerksamkeit genießt.Sie hätte es sich wahrlich verdient!

Wieder nicht enttäuscht!
Seit mehreren Jahren höre ich die Musik von Mew und durfte sie auch schon live erleben (so vor kurzem in Köln).Auch das neue Album bringt tolle Songs hervor, die abseits der Radio-Pop-Songs, eine wunderbare Frische und Vielfalt haben.

前作「＋－」から早くもリリースされた本作を早速聞いてみました！インディーズ盤から全ての作品が好きなMew信者の私からすれば、最高としか言えない。特に3曲目CANDY PIECES ALL SMEARED OUTは素晴らしい！Mewファンならわかる例のあの曲ですよ！もうそれだけで買った価値がありました！感動で涙が溢れます。9月の来日は必ず行きます！

素晴らしいのは間違いないが、、
Boの存在の大きさを痛感しますね、いい悪いとかの話ではなく。Boのクリエイティブなギターワークが聞けないのは非常に残念です。それでも前回の来日公演(Boが脱退後)はサポートギターの方を迎えての素晴らしいパフォーマンス、新旧織り混ぜたセットリストで最高のライヴを見せてくれたMEW。もう音よすぎかっこよすぎで涙が自然と出てきますよ。ですから9月の来日公演は絶対行きましょう!絶対後悔しないライブを彼等は見せてくれますよ。(ライブの宣伝なってしまいました汗
