Authentic Trinity rock and pop book

Surprised that some of the pieces are classed as grade 8. Perhaps grade 6 would be more appropriate in my opinion. Very disappointed with the vocals that have been recorded. I know it's a guitar book but vocals are terrible on some tracks. I listened to Sweet Child O Mine first. My wife called from another room "who the hell is singing that?" Despite the singing, the tablatures offer too many 'performance notes'. I'd rather have actual notes presented rather than every bend, slide, hammer and pull indicated. Makes it easier to read and allows the student to interpret the material their way, or at least as a tutor, offer alternative techniques and fingerings when appropriate. It's a personal preference of mine and nothing actually wrong with the notation, however.

For getting through the exam it’s good, but not for much else.Most of the songs are written incorrectly, wether that is due to the arranger not listening to nuances in playing or just lazy writing. An example of this is just repeating the 1st verse and chorus of crazy train without actually writing the separate transition licks. Another example of this is in always with me, always with you, most of the licks are missing notes and are incorrectly phrased.On top of the horrendous quality of the arrangement, the CD is just embarrassing. The guitarist is lacking feel everywhere, sloppy and would definitely be marked down in the actual exam. And the singer is just, well, ear piercingly out of tune and time.In conclusion, get it for the exam so that you can have the qualification. But forget everything you learned immediately afterwards. Grade 8 is not the standard it once was, and the exam board needs to revamp these qualifications immediately.
