A real deal!
Really nice American Mahjong card set. The cards themselves are a little wider and a little shorter than a regular deck of cards. The cards are nice and sturdy with lovely graphics. Very portable.

Functional but confusing
The cards were about 2/3 of the size of a regular deck of cards, which I didn’t expect. They are cute and high-quality cards that are easy enough to play with. For those used to American Mahjong you still will need your own cards with the winning hands And will need to remove four jokers. After playing with them, we realize we would benefit from a tray that holds the plane cards in front of us because it’s harder to visualize without them all in front of you at once. Lastly, the West cards and white dragon cards look almost identical on the corners and we’re hard to differentiate, so we wrote over them with a sharpie as you can see in my second picture because otherwise we didn’t get why there were 8 west cards. In conclusion, would be great for traveling to play, but still need to have cards for winning hands and some relabeling necessary.

Vibrant and affordable
Vibrant and affordable cards to play traditional Chinese Mahjong. Cards are plastic coated and easy to hold and shuffle. This Mahjong deck is a fraction of the weight and stroage size of heavy resin based tiles. Cards are easy to read with large print and easy on the eyes. Everything is included per box to play traditional Chinese rules of Mahjong. (except for dice). The included instruction sheet is a bit unclear with the written direction for set up. My party and I just followed regular wall break rules as if we were playing with resin based tiles. The deck comes with extra Season and Flower cards which are not used in traditional Chinese Mahjong. The deck is a safe purchase if you are on the fence about the quality concern of buying a cheap set of resin based Mahjong tiles.

An excellent option when...
We have occasions when we don't want to play an entire game, or we don't have four players at a given moment, and playing with cards instead of tiles can be really quick and convenient. That said, some players have trouble handling the traditional cards (tall and narrow) and this size and shape of card is much easier to hold. The cards are good quality. The artwork is lovely. The price is very reasonable.

Excellent for travel!
I am obsessed with Mah Jongg, and already have a travel set with thin tiles, but when I saw these cards for just under $10, I thought,'Why not?" They are beautifully designed and come in a compact box. I also purchased 4 plastic holders for playing cards, in order to have greater ease to work with the cards. If you built "walls" with them, the walls would be too spread out, so I would just play with the deck in the middle of the table, to draw from, after distributing the initial cards, and then allow the discarded cards spread out over the table. Haven't used them yet, but will take them on my next trip!

You can play Mahjong with these cards.
I am an avid Mahjong player. These cards are a little smaller than regular playing cards, but not too hard to handle. The top left hand corner of the cards are marked with the number in different colors for each of the the groups of bamboo, character, circles. The winds have a cloud to represent them, again with lettering in the top left hand corner. The directions do not have any info on scoring. It appears after each hand, whoever Mahjongs has won. I think it would be good for travel if you could not play with tiles.
