Mahle 48383 front main crankshaft seal kit
I bought this kit because I was familiar with Mahle as a name brand. It came in a sealed box and parts in a sealed bag with a wear sleeve, depth tool, and dust seal. I bought a cheaper seal kit and could not get the seal to seat straight even with the factory installation tool. Manual says to pound seal in with a heavy hammer, but I could not get this to work. The 48383 went right in when using the factory tool in a hydraulic press. This is the first seal leak I have had on my 2003 Dodge Cummins 5.9L with 330K miles on it. The Mahle box says seal made in China. I think the straightness of the installation is more important then the country of manufacture.

Outer seal does not fit over the crank sleeve
Install went good until I wanted to put the outer seal over the crankshaft, the seal wouldn't fit over the newly installed crank sleeve.
